OS MALANDROS DE MESTRE TOURO & TEKURA JEGNAS INC.

 

Os Malandros De Mestre Touro is an entity which trains young and adult folk of the “Underserved Communities” in the art of “CAPOEIRA ANGOLA de SAO BENTO GRANDE” with the intention of perpetuating the art in those communities. The motivation behind this program is to restore and maintain the moral and cultural heritage and strength of African Communities through the practice of CAPOEIRA ANGOLA de SAO BENTO GRANDE.

Tekura Jegnas Inc. (Black Hero/Warrior) is a San Diego based non-profit organization for the Research, Development, Documentation and Perpetuation of the African Culture of the Diaspora within the Diaspora. This educational process is to be achieved via culturally specific programming, documentaries, public workshops, classes, lecture/demonstrations and performances.

 

Under the auspices of CORDA BAMBA, TEKURA JEGNAS Inc. and the A.R.P. (African Reconnection Program), Os Malandros de Mestre Touro has spread the art of CAPOEIRA ANGOLA de SAO BENTO GRANDE throughout the United States of America. Utilizing collaborations between Corda Bamba, Tekura Jegnas Inc., the WorldBeat Cultural Center, Casa del Rey Moro Museum and Os Malandros de Mestre Touro, cities throughout the U.S.A. have been exposed to African Brazilian cultural retentions such as Capoeira, Maculele, Samba, Kalenda, Jail House Rock, Dula Meketa, Zulu Impi and Jungo. This has been enhanced by cultural trips to Brazil in the cities of Bahia Sao Salvador, Cachoeira, Dias Da Villa, and Rio de Janeiro.

 

Dennis Newsome is one of the leading African martial artists in the U.S. and is a Mestre in Capoeira. He has served as a technical advisor and fight choreographer for “Lethal Weapon” and other blockbuster hits! Mr. Newsome is the subject of many articles appearing in national and international martial arts Magazines, News Papers and Books
